Axel had been avoiding Hartley for a while now, something that proved to be very unusual given that Axel never avoided Hartley, not even after he betrayed him. Just hearing those words though, the way he spoke to him? They actually hurt. Axel didn't see Hartley again until five days later when he turned up at lunch. And even then, he sat down besides Barry and not Hartley.
This had not been a good week. Two days had run out, he hadn't found anyone willing to accept his offer and it had been three days of things he didn't want to speak about and he was really fed up of Barry trying to talk to him about.
Axel emptied his pockets onto the table and put all the stuff he'd managed to steal and gather right there in front of Mick and Len. The ipod, the cigarettes, a lighter, some dollars, some strange white powder in a little bag and a folded up picture of a naked girl. "That's it. That's all my stash. Give me an offer." For protection, for help, for some lunch period where someone backed him up. And yes, he was addressing them and not Hartley for a reason. "Please."
